Lviv is one of the most beautiful cities in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. Travelers come here to enjoy the legendary Lviv coffee or chocolate. Moreover, you can only taste real Lviv coffee in the old area of the City of Lions, and nowhere else! Someone wants to walk along the atmospheric boulevards and feel the magical atmosphere of the city!

Today I want to tell you about the history of the creation of the city! There is a wonderful legend about the creation of Lviv. You should understand that it is not reliable information, but namely this story reaches down into the soul of Lviv visitors and its locals! According to legend, there were only small villages on Lviv modern territory a long time ago. One day, the peasants noticed that people began to disappear from the settlement. It turned out that this was the work of a lion. The lion lay in wait for the daredevils in the forests, caught them and dragged them into a cave. No one ever returned from there… A brave man appeared in the local tavern and promised to kill the lion. In order to defeat the predator, the knight needed a sword and armor of incredible strength! Village craftsmen forged day and night, but nothing worked- the strength was insufficient. The advice of a random traveler saved the peasants when there was no hope. The traveler advised all the young girls of the village to put a drop of blood on the knight's armor. So the peasant women did, and the brave knight managed to defeat the insatiable beast! Therefore, the city of Lviv was named after the King of beasts!

Of course, this belief exists rather for the entertainment of tourists. In fact, the city was founded by the prince of Galicia as a powerful defensive fortress to fight the Tatar Mongols. The city is named after the prince's son Leo. The first written mention of the city is found in the Galicia-Volyn Chronicle under 1256. Lviv is considered the unofficial capital of Galicia and Western Ukraine. The city also has two more statuses - the cultural center and the coffee capital of Ukraine. Both statuses are quite justified - according to statistics, about 40% of all historical sights of Ukraine are concentrated on the territory of Lviv and the Lviv region. A large number of theaters and concert halls, art galleries are also concentrated in the city! Lviv history is as colorful and amazing as a city itself. It is filled with interesting events and outstanding figures!
